Genlin World Heritage Foundation Continues its Support of Anthropology Students to do Internships outside Hong Kong (22 October 2009)

The Genlin World Heritage Foundation began to support students of the Anthropology Department to work as summer interns in cultural heritage institutions outside Hong Kong in 2007. This year, the Foundation extended a three-year-contract with the Center for Cultural Heritage Studies in the Anthropology Department, and donated HK$100,000 to support students' overseas internships over the next three years.

The ceremony for extending the contract was held at the meeting room of the Genlin World Heritage Foundation in Great Eagle Center, Wanchai, Hong Kong on 22nd October, 2009, and was hosted by Vice Chairperson Miss Leslie Wong and Executive Officer Miss Mandy Leung of the Foundation. Professor Sidney Cheung, chairman of the Anthropology Department, Professor Tracey Lu, director of the Center for Cultural Heritage Studies, and Dr. Danning Wang of the Anthropology Department attended the ceremony. In addition, six students of the Anthropology Department who received the Foundation sponsorship in the summer of 2008 or 2009 also attended.

Miss Leslie Wong talked to every student in order to know their experiences of internships in the U.K., the Philippines and Japan. She praised their achievements and encouraged them to make continuous contributions to the field of cultural heritage conservation. Miss Wong also shared some valuable ideas about the current situation of traditional culture in Hong Kong with professors and students. The ceremony ended in a harmonious and happy atmosphere.
